does the square drive input on this unit pass all the way through its housing?

Is this product compatible with cleanroom environment ?

I have an HA-AG45 installed to raise and lower a chandelier, I can raise it and it ratchets into place, but I cant lower it, as it appears to be fixed. Is there something I need to do to allow this to happen.
